The very beginning is to get a chunk of raw crystal, stone or other suitable mineral. This could be from a mine, a distributor or someone's collection. Then, it's off to the shaping process:

Rough Shaping: They start by cutting down the mineral into a rough sphere shape using a saw or by grinding it down. Think of it like sculpting, but with a rock.
